The 10-Minute "Interview" That Saves 10 Hours of Vibe Coding

A simple technique that changed how I build with AI: ask Claude Code to interview you before writing a single line of code.

I have been using gen AI since the ChatGPT 3 release. It's been a while now.

I used V0.dev for building my first prototypes of startup ideas back in 2024. It was the best tool I found for testing ideas, and I really enjoyed the building process. In 2025 I switched to Cursor, and in 2026 I moved to Claude Code. Each switch made me learn new things and use old learnings in new places.

Recently, I found a technique that changed everything: Ask Claude Code to "Interview" you before you start. Credit to @trq212's viral post for popularizing this approach:

I use this for all my startup ideas now. It helps me understand the what, the why, and the how. It takes about 5-10 minutes, but the results help create a very detailed PRD. This ensures both you and the AI are building the product you actually wanted.

My advice: If you don't know a certain answer during the interview, don't rush. Spend time with Gemini or GPT to research that specific question. That extra time pays off very fast.
